Sonoma County Mayacamas Mountain fruit prevails in the 2001 vintage. Dark berry aroma and flavor is more powerful than previous vintages. Archipel's vineyards have come into their own in 2001, expressing the most intense Bordeaux varietal fruit flavor and color to date. Cabernet Franc is again included in the blend, contributing to the wine's fundamental structure and impressive finish.

91 Points - "A serious blend of 62% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, and 8% Cabernet Franc from Napa and Sonoma vineyards, the 2001 Archipel is a wine of formidable intensity. Big, blackberry and cassis flavors are interwoven with cedar, toasty oak, and spice box. Supple tannin as well as full-bodied flavors suggest it will drink well young, yet age nicely for 10-15." - Robert M. Parker, Jr., The Wine Advocate, December 2003
